Hyperlite’s new KRUZR-GLS is a collaboration between R&D head Aaron Stumpf and Rusty Malinoski. Aaron shaped Rusty’s 1st first ever pro model, the Marek and every board since. This board is a departure from the aggressive style ride Rusty is known for, this new shape is a nimble cruiser. The KRUZR-GLS has more surface area than any other board but has been shaped to maintain a lively feel with a minimum thickness profile. More comfy than previous shapes, Rusty feels all ride styles and ability levels will enjoy this new shape which will surely suit riders in the 200+lbs range. Aaron brought new features like the Boneline Grab Rail and Cupped Tail Rail design allowing the wider board to sit deep in the water for a solid edge hold on approach. The Molded Landing Feature is included while the overall base design is simpler, delivering that cruisy flowy feel between tricks and carving the wake. Rusty still enjoys smashing dubs and going big, the KRUZR-GLS offers more pop and landing stability for the biggest of airs.

The KRUZR-GLS is a name that pays homage to Grayson Lawrence Stumpf, Aaron’s son who lost his battle with cancer at the age of 12. Rusty and Aaron have always been tight, brought closer together because of Gray. Hyperlite and Rusty will be donating proceeds from the sale of the KRUZR-GLS to the Live Gray’s Way Research & Awareness Fund. Never has a Rusty & Aaron shape meant as much as the KRUZR-GLS.

THE KRUZR PROJECT

Innovation doesn't always mean reinventing the wheel. Sometimes, it’s about noticing what’s missing and filling the gap. Enter the KRUZR a board designed for the big guys, with purpose and passion behind it.

Rusty Malinoski, a legend in the sport known for his powerhouse riding, recognized a need. As a big guy himself, he believed there could be a more fitting, supportive board. He shared his vision with Aaron Stumpf, Hyperlite’s premier board shaper. Immediately inspired, Aaron combined Rusty’s insights with his expertise, crafting a design with more surface area, greater stability, and increased forgiveness all without sacrificing performance.

But behind Aaron’s shaping is a story of courage, loss, and legacy.

Collage of images including a person on a wakeboard, a person in a black outfit, and a boat on water.

In 2020, Aaron’s world was turnedupside down. His youngest son, Grayson, was diagnosed with DIPG,
a rare and devastating pediatric brain cancer. Gray was unforgettable — a radiant light, a fierce competitor on the soccer field, a child full of joy, fight, and heart. Despite the hardest days, Gray’s spark never dimmed. His strength touched everyone around him. Sadly, after 377 days, Gray’s fight ended. His legacy, however, remains alive.

Aaron isn’t just a shaper — he’s one of us, and his family is our family. When Gray passed, the ground beneath us shook. There are no playbooks for such heartbreak. Rusty, also a father, felt this pain deeply and knew he had to act.

That’s when the KRUZR became more than just a board. Rusty committed to donating a portion of his earnings to the Live Gray’s Way Foundation, founded by Aaron andSummer Stumpf to raise awareness for DIPG, support families, and fund research. No one expected the profound impact of this gesture — it simply felt Right. At Hyperlite, we stood side by side with the Stumpf family. This is what family does.

The KRUZR isn’t just a wakeboard — it symbolizes hope, purpose, and community. Every time you ride it, you carry a piece of Gray’s light with you. Every sale supports a cause greater than wakeboarding. Whether you’re a big guy seeking the right board or a rider looking to cruise with
confidence, know that this board carries meaning beneath your feet.
